Lazauskas, who played three seasons at Slippery Rock fromrecorded impressive wins in the "trials" round of the show and in the final challenge on "Mount Olympus" to be crowned the lone female "Titan" of the episode. She opened the night by overpowering Breona Evans in a challenge titled "Off the Rails" and closed the evening with a runaway win over Shannon Decker in the "Mount Olympus" obstacle course video of both performances can be seen HERE.
What Lazauskas accomplished in her television debut is even more extraordinary when looking at the list of incredible adversity she has overcome to get to this point.

When she wasLazauskas was diagnosed with a massive tumor in her left lung that required the lung to be removed. With only one lung, she was often told she would never be able to be an athlete.

She overcame that challenge to become a high school basketball standout in New Jersey, which led her to Slippery Rock in Lazauskas' college basketball career never had a chance to develop, as she was plagued with more injuries. She suffered multiple ACL tears and endured four ACL reconstruction surgeries with the hopes of being able to her career as an athlete.

Lazauskas transferred out of Slippery Rock prior to her senior year after the injuries made it impossible to get back on the court at SRU. But, she never gave up on the fight to prove she could become an athlete. She shifted focus, and sports, and dedicated herself to the gym. She earned her undergraduate degree and moved to California, where she became an amateur mixed martial arts fighter and took her love for human anatomy and physiology and applied it to a new purpose.

Lazauskas enrolled in graduate school at California State University — Fullerton, where she studied muscle fiber typing and protein aling. She also became a certified strength and conditioning specialist CSCS and has taken that knowledge and applied it as a personal coach and mentor visit Kara's website HERE.
Watching her dominate the challenges on "The Titan Games" Thursday night, you certainly would never be able to guess she was operating at a physiological disadvantage.

Lazauskas' victory will send her to the semifinal round of competition on the series as one of eight female "Titans" to advance. The semifinals are scheduled to air at 8 p.
